The best option

With their design, deadbolts are harder to pick.

With the bolt extending into the door jamb through a solid strike plate, much harder to break into. Combined with solid well built doors, installed correctly deadbolts provide a much more secure option that insurance companies require.

Single or Double?

Single cylinder options have key access on the outside, and a thumb turn on the inside.

These work well on solid doors and with the thumb turn on the inside are easy to open in case of emergency. They are not so good on a glass door, where a burglar could break the glass and reach in to unlock.

Installation is critical

A deadbolt will only resist attack effectively if correctly installed.

The alignment of the bolt, with strike plate and the jamb, along with the fixings all contribute to a locks integrity and performance.

Don’t short change your security, especially when it might be your front door!
